Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) powder is a water-soluble, odorless synthetic polymer with high film-forming, adhesive, and emulsifying properties. It is a non-toxic synthetic adhesive used primarily for bonding porous materials like wood, paper, cardboard, and fabric. It goes on white and creamy and dries to a clear, flexible finish and so it is widely used in textile industry for obtaining stiffness of the fabric.
